About Us

Company History

Founded in 1978 as a partnership - John Johnson and Steve Markham acquired the business equipment division of the then 10 year old Pocatello business Stevens Stationers.

In the 1980’s Idaho Typewriter Exchange (ITEX) of Idaho Falls was acquired as well as assets of Pocatello Office Systems. Both east Idaho businesses were originally part of a five store 60+ year old chain owned by the successful Idaho businessman, Lud Pollak.

Steve Markham’s and John Johnson’s experience and expertise enabled Idaho Business Systems to establish and build lasting relationships. Earning a reputation for always doing business with honesty and integrity, we clearly understood the objective is to make clients more successful by adding value to their businesses.

In 1988 Steve sold his interest to pursue different career goals. The business continued its local ownership and operations with John as sole proprietor. Idaho Business Systems became an Idaho corporation (IBSI) in 1998, John being president and CEO.

The evolution of technology has been astonishing from 1978 to present, the electronic black and white copy machine was state of the art technology followed by the electronic typewriter and the personal computer in early 80s.

IBSI remains on the lead edge of the digital revolution in technology and we are even more committed today to stay abreast of changing technologies as they emerge.
